Faced with this scenario, climate action at the local level is crucial to mitigating and adapting to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>In order to include the contribution of states and municipalities in the climate commitments under the Paris Agreement, and to ensure transparency on the completed actions, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gob.mx\/semarnat\">SEMARNAT<\/a>), with the support of the <em>Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.giz.de\/en\/worldwide\/33041.html\"><em>GIZ<\/em><\/a><em>) GmbH<\/em> through the Mexican-German Climate Change Alliance, developed the &#8220;Subnational Climate Action Transparency Agenda Information System (SIAT-Subnational)&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>After almost 3 years of development and capacity building for the states to use the system, the launch event of the SIAT-Subnational took place on 17 August 2022 in a hybrid format.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-29015\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/SIATSub_VideoSecretariaAlbores-700x438.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"302\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The event was hosted by Mar\u00eda Luisa Albores Gonz\u00e1lez, head of SEMARNAT; Dr. Agust\u00edn \u00c1vila Romero, Director General of Climate Action Policies (DGPAC); Immanuel Brand, Cooperation Policy Advisor of the German Embassy and Dr. Adriana Bustamante, Secretary of the Climate Change and Sustainability Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29021 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/Frame-SIAT-Subnacional-700x700.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frame-SIAT-Subnacional-700x700.png 700w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frame-SIAT-Subnacional-360x360.png 360w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frame-SIAT-Subnacional-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frame-SIAT-Subnacional.png 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The design and development of the system was presented by Diana Guzm\u00e1n Torres, Director of Climate Change Mitigation Policies. In addition, Suriel Islas, Deputy Director of Monitoring Actions to Promote Sustainable Development of SEMARNAT, discussed the process and mechanisms for the implementation of the system.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29018\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29018\" style=\"width: 440px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29018\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/SIATSub_DianaGuzman-700x467.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"325\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29018\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Diana Guzm\u00e1n from SEMARNAT \u00a9 GIZ M\u00e9xico \/ Ana Karen Jim\u00e9nez<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The heads of the Ministries of Environment of Mexico City, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Puebla and Sonora participated in the event, all of whom were part of the piloting and development of the Subnational SIAT.
