Participants from the private sector, academia, civil society and government proposed various measures on mitigation and adaptation that will subsequently be strengthened and prioritized to be included in the MCCP. In addition, the participants formulated a long-term vision in the face of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Through the <strong>Workshop for the Identification of Mitigation Measures and Adaptation to Climate Change<\/strong>, the municipality of Puerto Vallarta continues with its activities for the development of its Municipal Climate Change Program (MCCP). By 2017 the sector that generated most emissions was stationary energy with 896,126 tCO2e (tons of carbon dioxide equivalent), followed by transport with 604,113 tCO2e, and together they account for 89% of total emissions. In addition, the diagnosis indicated that it is expected that by 2030, the municipality&#8217;s emissions will increase by 26%. On the other hand, the results of the vulnerability diagnosis project a generalized increase in temperature, and a variation in precipitation, which will potentially affect the productive activities of the region.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18236\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18236\" style=\"width: 309px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18236 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.-Taller-medidas.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"309\" height=\"232\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18236\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GIZ Round Tables Discussion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After the presentation of the diagnosis, the participants worked in sectoral tables (fisheries, agriculture, forestry, urban and tourism) to identify measures, based on the results of the diagnosis, municipal attributions and coordination with the State of Jalisco and the municipality neighbor of Bah\u00eda de Banderas. During the last part of the workshop, the participants expressed their ideas about what should encompass the long-term strategic vision of the MCCP.<\/p>\n<p>The development of the MCCP of this municipality was supported by the Ministry of Environment and Territorial Development (<a href=\"https:\/\/semadet.jalisco.gob.mx\/gobernanza-ambiental\/cambio-climatico\/guia-para-la-elaboracion-o-actualizacion-de-los-programas\">SEMADET<\/a>) of the State of Jalisco, as well as <em>Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.giz.de\/en\/html\/index.html\">GIZ<\/a>) GmbH<\/em>, through the projects Vertically Integrated Climate Policies (<a href=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/en\/portafolio\/vertically-integrarted-climate-protection-viclim\/\">VICLIM<\/a>) and Ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change with the tourism sector (<a href=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/en\/portafolio\/ecosystem-based-adaptation-to-climate-change-in-cooperation-with-the-private-sector-in-mexico-adaptur\/\">ADAPTUR<\/a>).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_18239\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18239\" style=\"width: 279px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18239 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/3.-Taller-medidas.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"279\" height=\"233\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-18239\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: GIZ Rapporteur of the team, exposing their results<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The process to develop the MCCP seeks to include key actors for the development of the municipal climate policy, integrating different visions and positions.
