The objective was for <strong>private sector<\/strong> representatives to learn about <strong>Europe\u2019s experience with ETS implementation<\/strong>, and to gain first-hand knowledge of the <strong>lessons learned<\/strong>, challenges and opportunities associated with implementation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-14322 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/DSC_0443-700x467.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_0443-700x467.jpg 700w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_0443-360x240.jpg 360w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_0443-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Representatives from the Mexican industrial and electricity sectors participated in sessions with experts directly involved in the implementation of the EU ETS. Throughout the study trip, they engaged in bilateral conversations, participated in group discussions, received the latest status updates about the ETS design in Mexico and discussed the Mexican industrial sector\u2019s involvement in the development of the ETS.<\/p>\n<p>The public and private sector institutions visited during the trip offered their perspectives about the implementation of the EU ETS. \u00a0The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmu.de\/en\/\">BMU<\/a>) and the German Emissions Trading Authority (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dehst.de\/EN\/home\/home_node.html\">DEHSt<\/a>) discussed lessons learned from the implementation of an ETS at the European and German levels.
