The first participatory workshop helped determine vulnerability gaps and potential opportunities for action in Jalisco. It aimed to identify actions that the state can take to meet goals related to climate change adaptation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13572\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2-3-700x325.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-3-700x325.png 700w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-3-360x167.png 360w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-3-768x357.png 768w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-3.png 1887w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The workshop began with Camilo de la Garza, Climate Change Advisor of the <em>Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH<\/em> and Arturo Javier Palero Castro, Project Coordinator of the Ministry of the Environment and Territorial Development (SEMADET) of Jalisco, offering words of welcome and highlighting the importance of state processes on climate change. As a starting point for the workshop discussions, they also introduced the international, national and state contexts regarding climate change. Another speaker, Sof\u00eda Mu\u00f1oz Alarc\u00f3n, employed the \u201cAction Learning\u201d methodology to explain key concepts such as vulnerability, adaptation and impact chains.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the presentations, participants were divided into three groups according to the NDC\u2019s three adaptation axes: social sector climate change adaptation (Axis 1 NDC), Ecosystem-based Adaptation (Axis 2 NDC: EbA) and strategic infrastructure and productive systems adaptation (Axis 3 NDC).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-13576\" src=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/3-1-700x347.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-1-700x347.png 700w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-1-360x178.png 360w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-1-768x380.png 768w, https:\/\/iki-alliance.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-1.png 1957w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Teams developed climate impact chains for each state sector and territorial region, with the impact chains corresponding to one of the three adaptation axes. Using current climate policy instruments as a reference point for examining vulnerabilities to climate change, the working group discussions focused on identifying gaps and areas of opportunity.
